French Onion

Ingredients:

4 cups onion, thinly sliced

1 tsp minced garlic

¼ cup butter

6 cups water

8 beef bouillon cubes

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

6 slices thick bread (French)

6 slices provolone

 

 

Utensils:

1 large pot and lid

Spoon (wooden if available)

Measuring cups and spoons

Oven mitts

OVEN SAFE bowls

Baking sheet

Kitchen Safety Tips: Always open lid away from yourself or anyone else.

Cool soup , portion and freeze for a quick meal!

USE CAUTION when broiling

Step 1: Butter, Onion

In a large pot, on medium-low heat,  melt butter and add onions. Cook for 8 minutes

Step 2: Garlic

Add garlic and cook 4 more minutes, stirring occasionally and until onions are golden.

Step 3: Water & bullion

Add water and bouillon, simmer and add Worcestershire sauce, bring to a boil.

Reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook 30 minutes stirring occasionally.

Step 4: Add to bowl

Add hot soup into OVEN SAFE BOWLS. Fill to mostly the top and place bread on soup.

PRE-HEAT OVEN to Broil

Step 5: Cheese and Melt

Place slice of provolone cheese on top of bread, letting it cover the sides of the bowl.

Put bowls on baking sheet and place in pre-heated oven, melt cheese to golden brown.

Step 6: Pull and Enjoy!

Be careful when taking out of oven! Tray and bowls will be very hot!

Let cool a few minutes and Enjoy!!
